The sixth Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Awards Luncheon, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 21, 2013 in Beverly Hills, California, took black star power to another level.

The ESSENCE Black Women Awards was a night of celebration and recognition for many female entertainers. On August 23, 2020, Kelly Rowland, Jill Scott, Keke Palmer and more attended the event to honor their peers in music, television and film. From red carpet looks to heartfelt acceptance speeches, the ceremony highlighted some of the most inspiring women in Hollywood today.

This awards show served as an opportunity to recognize black excellence within the entertainment industry. Attendees like Laverne Cox and Lizzo used this platform to speak out on issues such as racial injustice and gender inequality. They also paid tribute to icons like Cicely Tyson who have paved the way for future generations of creatives.

Kelly Rowland hosted the event while Jill Scott performed her hit single “A Long Walk”. Other notable appearances included Yara Shahidi and Ava DuVernay who graced the stage with their presence during the award presentations. It was truly a memorable evening that celebrated black womanhood at its finest!

Essence Black Women Awards Overview

Conclusion

I was in awe of all the amazing black women celebrated at this year’s Essence Black Women Awards. From Kelly Rowland to Jill Scott and Keke Palmer, it was inspiring to see so many powerful and influential female figures being honored for their accomplishments.

The night was full of motivating speeches and uplifting moments that I’ll never forget. Each woman shared her own unique story about facing struggles and how she overcame them with grace and resilience. It made me feel empowered as a young black woman myself, knowing that there is strength within us all.

Overall, the awards ceremony was an incredible experience for everyone involved. As we left the event feeling inspired, I knew that each one of us had taken away something special from the evening; a reminder that no matter what obstacles life throws our way, anything is possible when you believe in yourself.
