This week veteran singers Vivian Green, Robert Glasper, and Meshell Ndegeocello release new albums.
Vivian Green – Green Room
Vivian Green proves with ‘The Green Room’ that she can still provide those classic love songs her fans anticipate while showing growth, positivity and musical creativity. True R&B fans will certainly appreciate ‘The Green Room’ as it delivers classic and engaging storylines with songs like “Still Here,” a collaboration with Brian Culbertson, that talks about falling and staying in love and “Remedy,” a track about the healing power of love.
Robert Glasper – Black Radio Recovered: The Remix EP (Blue Note)
If you didn’t have a chance to download a copy of Robert Glapser’s Portrait of Black Music, he is offering a second effort with ‘Black Radio Recovered: The Remix EP.’ Glasper’s received assistance from producers 9th Wonder, Pete Rock, Georgia Anne Muldrow, ?uestlove for the repackaging of the 6-track record.
Meshell Ndegeocello – Dedication to Nina Simone
For Meshell Ndegeocello’s tenth studio album, she dedicated the record to musician Nina Simone. “A dedication to Nina Simone and her incredible influence but it is also a dedication to the single, interior life we all experience,” said Meshell Ndegeocello. The album boosts guest collaborations with talented musicians and vocalist Sinead O’Connor, Lizz Wright, Valerie June, Tracy Wannomae, Toshi Reagon and Cody ChesnuTT. “The aim was not to re-create the existing versions, because we felt strongly that the only way to honor Nina would be for Meshell to find her own voice in the material,” said producer Chris Bruce.
