As soon as one door closed, another opened for Teyana Taylor. Earlier this year, Teyana revealed that she was officially released from her contract with Star Trak/Interscope Records, and was ready to go the indie route. Now the 21-year-old rising star confirms to signing a deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label imprint.
Joining a roster which consists of John Legend, Big Sean, Mr. Hudson, Common, and more, Teyana is more than excited to be surrounded by such a high caliber of talented artists. “God has blessed me wit G.O.O.D day,” she tweeted on her official Twitter account.
In 2010, Taylor collaborated with Kanye West on “Christmas In Harlem,” since that record it seemed like the two would cement a formal business relationship.
Teyana was previously signed to Pharrell’s Star Trak label for six years, in which she released her single “Google Me.” Unfortunately, her album ‘From A Planet Called Harlem’ eventually got shelved.
Her G.O.O.D. Music/Island Def Jam debut album is due out later this year, along with a new single expected in the next couple of months. Until then, fans can listen to her just-released mixtape, ‘The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor,’ which feature Teyana channeling her heavily-influenced 90’s sound.
