Throughout the decade, celebrity couples announced engagements, weddings and pregnancies, while others sadly parted ways. Although we wish some would have stayed together like Chili and Usher, we continue to keep up with their relationship status. Some artists benefited from the separation like Whitney Houston.
Whitney Houston
After being married for 15 years, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown finalized their divorce in 2007. Rumors of drug usage between the couple surfaced throughout and after their marriage. Houston fought for and won custody of their daughter. Following the album release of “I Look To You”, she is slowly overcoming the negative attention from her disreputable past.
Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri met in 2002 and maintained a healthy and steady relationship for a few years. After her brother, Micheal Jackson’s death, she broke it off with Dupri. She needed to focus on filming “Why Did I Get Married Too?” to deal with the grief.

Rihanna & Chris Brown
Rihanna and Chris Brown began dating in spring of 2008. Their relationship was never announced or talked much about until February 2009. Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, accompanied by a restraining order that requires him to remain ten yards away from Rihanna at public events.
Christina Milian and The Dream

Notable Unions
It’s been a year of love and loss in the world of celebrity relationships. From weddings to babies, breakups to reconciliations, some of the most well-known couples have made headlines this past year. Here are ten noteworthy unions that caught our eye:
First on the list is former couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, who tied the knot after nearly a decade together. The two wed in December 2018 with an intimate ceremony at their home in Tennessee. It was reported that they had reconciled earlier that same year after calling it quits multiple times since 2010.
Next up is Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson, who revealed their secret wedding in August 2019. They first stepped out as a couple just four months prior but managed to keep their nuptials under wraps until then. Similarly, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got married with little fanfare; instead opting for an impromptu Las Vegas ceremony back in May before having a larger celebration later on in France.
Last but not least is pop star Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom who welcomed daughter Daisy Dove into the world last month following their engagement last February. While it’s unclear when exactly these two started dating, we do know that they took time apart back in 2017 before reuniting shortly afterward – all signs point to them being head over heels ever since! With so many special occasions happening throughout 2019, this one takes top honors among the most memorable marriages this year has seen.
Notable Separations
Unfortunately, not all unions ended so happily this year. Several high-profile couples called it quits during 2019 with some of them ending after many years together.
First up is Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan who announced their split in April 2018 after nine years of marriage. Although the two had initially planned to remain friends following their separation, they have since taken different paths – Tatum has moved on with singer Jessie J while Dewan is now engaged to actor Steve Kazee.
Next are former couple Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson whose whirlwind romance quickly fizzled out in October 2018 after just a few months of dating. The pair got engaged shortly after meeting each other but ultimately decided that things weren’t working out between them; however, both singers seem to be doing alright these days as Grande recently released her fifth studio album titled ‘thank u, next’ which includes several songs about her exes including Davidson.
Lastly is Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale whose divorce was finalized earlier this year after over 13 years of marriage. While there were rumors swirling around for quite some time prior to their announcement, no one expected such an end to the couple’s relationship – especially considering they had three children together! Nevertheless, both artists appear to have moved on from their past lives as Stefani is currently dating Blake Shelton while Rossdale has been linked to German model Sophia Thomalla.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the past year has been a roller coaster of marriages, babies and breakups. We have seen some of our favorite couples tie the knot and others make heart-wrenching decisions to call it quits. The birth of celebrity babies brought joy to fans all over the world while divorce announcements made us feel like we were losing family members. It’s safe to say that 2020 was an emotional ride for us all!
As 2021 begins, let’s look back on these notable unions and separations with admiration and respect. Just as every union is unique, so too are the reasons for its dissolution. No matter what happens in love, life will go on — but this doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy each moment along the way. Let’s take away from this experience that no one should be judged or shamed for their choices when it comes to relationships; after all, everyone deserves happiness and respect in whatever form it takes.
Here’s hoping that 2021 brings more beautiful marriages, adorable babies and less pain from breakups. Let’s keep celebrating true love stories together and send positive vibes into the universe for those still searching for theirs!
