Award-winning Broadway performer and recording artist Chester Gregory is set to pay tribute to Hip-Hop in a soon to be released mixtape. Gregory, known for the acclaimed 2009 release “In Search of High Love,” has set Tuesday, June 23 as the release date for “Breakbeat Karaoke”. Featuring a collection of throwback Hip Hop tunes with remixes of songs on “In Search of High Love,” Gregory says the free mixtape is perfect for getting into a “party zone”. “I just want it to be like the soundtrack to the summer, where you put it on and before you know it, you are just in a party zone,” Gregory confirms. Citing guest appearances and cameos from Farrah Burns, Phase One and Dot Da Genius (Kid Cudi’s “Day N Night”), the former “Hairspray” star admits to referencing Hip Hop veterans including J. Dilla and Common. “I wanted to pay tribute to some of the best in hip hop like J. Dilla, De La Soul, Common, Jay-Z and DJ Premier to name a few.” Chester Gregory’s “Breakbeat Karoake” will be made available for download at chestergregory.com Tuesday, June 23. Gregory’s debut “In Search of High Love” is in stores now.
