Janelle Monae is the latest artist to bless iHeartRadio’s Live series, a special concert for today's top artists. Broadcast live on-air as a 30-minute special, the performance celebrated Monae’s sophomore album, The Electric Lady, which was released last September (2013).
Before performing cuts from her album like "Dance Apocalyptic," "Q.U.E.E.N," "Electric Lady," Monae treated fans to a first listen of her upbeat, dance song "What is Love?," which is featured as the opening song in the highly anticipated animation film “Rio 2”. She also performed the fan favorite "Tightrope," in addition to pulling off crazy stunts like jumping into the crowd where she danced with fans.
"I do music with the expectation of just giving back what the creator has blessed me with. As a creative person I know that these ideas are meant to inspire not just me, but millions of people,” Monáe told InStyle. “To be invited to play at iHeartRadio for their live series and to be able to bring the music directly to my ‘fandroids’ (what I call my fans), is something I would never take for granted."
