Music mogul Russell Simmons held his 13th Annual “Art for Life” charity event on Saturday July 28th to give underprivileged youth access to art programs. Many-a-celeb came out to support the cause, with the end-of-the-night total funds that exceeded over $2 million. The proceeds will directly serve over 2,300 students.
Held at Simmons’ East Hampton home, tables began at $15,000. The event honored Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Tamia and Grant Hill (The Grant Hill Foundation), Betsy Cohen (Bancorp Inc.), and Marc Leder (Sun Capital Partners Inc.). CNN’s Soledad O’Brien hosted the philanthropic event, while the Rush Kids Auction was led by Star Jones.
Others in attendance were TV host/actress Rocsi Diaz, mother and brother of Trayvon Martin Sybrina and Jahvaris Fulton, Reverend Run and his family, moguls L.A Reid, Babyface, and Tyler Perry, and rapper MC Lyte. Performances were provided by Melanie Fiona, Anita Baker, Salt-N-Pepa, and Diggy Simmons.
