Music and hip-hop mogul Jay Z announced that his streaming service “TIDAL” has successfully reached one million subscribers.
He tweeted on his Twitter account to announce the success of the TIDAL launch: "Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists. Tidal is platinum.1,000,000 people and counting. Let's celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn," he wrote.
Many of your favorite artists can be found on TIDAL such as Rihanna, Madonna, and or even Queen B herself. The reason TIDAL is different from other streaming playlist like Pandora and Spotify is because with TIDAL, you can get exclusive experiences and music video access before anyone else.
Jay Z was challenged with criticism when the site first launched in May. Some critics didn’t like the idea of the site and compared Spotify’s millions of subscribers to TIDAL. Mr. Carter fired back to critics sending out a tweet saying:
“Tidal is doing just fine. We have over 770,000 subs. We have been in business less than one month. #TidalFacts”
People have their different preferences on what streaming sites they’d like to use, but TIDAL is definitely not going to replace Spotify or Pandora, it’s just a different way to get music out there.
