Last week, Courtnie sent us into outer space with “Nebula,” an uplifting song about the bright light that everyone possesses.
Today, she’s still in the uplifting spirit, this time on the vibey, Brandon Combs-produced track, “You So.” On the song, she highlights the strengths of Black people in regards to recent public struggles.
She sings, “This some Afrocentric sh*t, like we in the 90s,” she sings before adding, “I met God last night, He looks like you / Kinks in his hair, that’s right, brown skin like you.”
“In light of all that's going on with black America right now, from police brutality to revolutionary acts at Mizzou near my hometown St. Louis, this track couldn't be more relevant,” she explained. “‘You So’ is about how poetic we are as a people.”
Be uplifted by Courtnie’s lyrics.
The Midwest-artist is currently prepping her Nebula EP.
