Twenty-two-year-old songstress Courtnie wants listeners to space out into positive thinking with her new song “Nebula.”Over dreamy production by Brandon Combs, “Nebula” reminds us when we’re at out lowest point, we're all stars.
About the song, Courtnie explains,
“I got the idea when I found this anonymous quote: ‘For a star to be born, there is one thing that must happen: a gaseous nebula must collapse. So collapse. Crumble. This is not your destruction. This is your birth.’ I really connected with it. And just like the quote, this piece is about inspiration and being on the verge of a breakthrough when you think you're at your lowest point. I want to arouse people, spark a flame, you know? Evoke that same type of feeling that I'm experiencing right now. Because I don't think living a life without inspiration is really living.”
Courtnie recently relocated to Harlem, New York after spending four years in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California, but she’s a Midwesterner at heart, having spent her adolescent years in Chicago and St. Louis.
She's currently working on an EP Nebula as well as another project titled The Feels.
