Jill Scott’s ‘WOMAN’ Tops Billboard 200 Chart

Jilly from Philly is numero uno!

Grammy Award-winning songstress Jill Scott debuts at the No. 1 spot on this week's Billboard 200 album chart with her new album, WOMAN.

Issued Friday, July 24th, the set sold 58,000 albums (62,000 SPS) in its first week of release according to Billboard. The feat gives Jill her second No. 1 album; her 2011 effort, The Light of the Sun, also topped the charts with 133,000 copies in its first week.

WOMAN is preceded by the singles "Fool's Gold," currently #3 on Billboard R&B charts, and the well-received, "You Don't Know." Jill describes the sound of the album as "classic Philly soul meets Country rhythm served with captivating storytelling."

Scott kicked off her summer tour earlier this month; the trek will run until August 28th.
