"I miss you so much more than I ever loved you," coos Deborah Cox on her new single, "More Than I Knew." On the Soothing and stirring ballad, produced by Thadeuis Dixon, the vocal powerhouse yearns for an ex-lover as she delivers heartfelt vocals about their past.
"This song is classic me; lots of emotion about a scenario I believe a lot of women find themselves in," Cox told Billboard.
"More Than I Knew" will serve as the first official single from Cox's upcoming comeback album, Work of Art, due out Aug 15th. The tune follows the previously released buzz song, "Kinda Miss You."
On the album, Cox told Singersroom, "There's like a nice cross-section of songs that talk about relationships, self-love, positivity, and this really is where I am right now in my life."
She adds, "It's different from my debut album or even the One Wish album; this one really infuses what's happening today in music, and also reaches back to my roots as a soul singer."
In related news, Cox has been cast as the legendary entertainer Josephine Baker in the musical "Josephine," inspired by Stephen Papich’s book "Remembering Josephine," which is about the life of Baker between the years 1939-1945.
