Jill Scott is ready to share wisdom with contestants on NBC's The Voice.
Just confirmed as Usher's guest mentor for the Spring 2014 season, which premieres next week, Scott discussed the upcoming season in a recent interview with Billboard.
"It's a show I watch and enjoy because singers are really being given an opportunity to sing," Scott shared with the magazine. "It's not all about the look or the visual. It's really about the tone of the voice, the passion that lives inside of it."
As previously reported, Scott is also at work on new music and the anticipated James Brown biopic "Get On Up." In the movie, Scott portrays Deirdre "Deedee" Jenkins, Brown's second wife.
"I'm from the Mos Def school of acting. I love to immerse myself in a character and be around people doing the same thing," Scott said of working on the film. "I looked at the film as a mosaic with the most important part being her still unbridled love and adoration for this huge personality and talent."
"Get On Up" is due in theaters August 1.
