Singer/songwriter Vivian Green treated media and music industry professionals to a private look into her fourth album “The Green Room” last Wednesday in NYC. Soulful melodies from the singer’s latest LP echoed in the background while guests sipped and shopped at Lisi Cosmetics’ flagship store, the event’s sponsor. The video for her first single “Anything Out There” looped on the store’s monitors and featured a stylish Green professing her love to a handsome lead male.
Green casually worked the room, personally talking to guests about her new album and what fans can look forward too. “Fans can expect a very fun, sexy and mature sound,” Green said. She is definitely in a happy place. Despite what her 2002 hit single “Emotional Rollercoaster” may suggest about her music, songs like “Free as a Bird” and the motivational track “Light the Universe”, are clear indications of an artist that wants to make “uplifting, feel-good record[s] for adults”.
True R&B fans will certainly appreciate “The Green Room” as it delivers classic and engaging storylines with songs like “Still Here“, a collaboration with Brian Culbertson, that talks about falling and staying in love and “Remedy”, a track about the healing power of love. Another personal favorite is the very relatable track “Supposed to Be Mine”, a song about the one that got away. Fans in the mood for more upbeat tracks should enjoy “X” and “I’m Not Prepared”.
Vivian Green proves with “The Green Room” that she can still provide those classic love songs her fans anticipate while showing growth, positivity and musical creativity.
“The Green Room” drops in stores and on iTunes October 9, 2012.
