Mariah Carey Announces New Song for Film ‘The Paperboy,’ Works on New Music

Mariah and her family have been in the news lately for many things; post-baby weight loss, adorable baby photo opts, hubby Nick Cannon’s health issues, and extravagant anniversary/first-birthday festivities. But now, Mimi is back in the news for making music. On her Twitter account yesterday, the busy entertainer tweeted, “Lil excited to share with you that I wrote a song for Lee Daniels’ new movie ‘The Paperboy’ called Mesmerized!”

“The Paperboy” follows a reporter’s return to his hometown to start an investigation of a death row inmate’s case. The film is set to premier at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. The cast includes Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack.

Daniels and Mariah have worked together before, most memorably on the film Precious where Mariah de-glams and portrays a humble Harlem social worker in the late 80’s.

‘Mesmerized’ isn’t the only music expected soon from the veteran powerhouse. Mariah is working on a new album, according to many photos surfacing of the singer in the studio with Jermaine Dupri, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled.
