Jill Scott may have a gem on her hands. After four albums, the R&B/Soul singer is on pace to land her first No. 1 Billboard album with her recent release ‘Light of the Sun.’
According to Hits Daily Double, the set is estimated to sell between 125-135k in its first week, which would knock off all other contenders to land her the career milestone. Her prior highest peak was a No. 3 spot with her 2004 sophomore release ‘Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2.’
“‘The Light of the Sun’ is about being revealing and refreshing â it’s warm. It’s rejuvenating. That’s the kind of music I wanted to create this time around,” Scott recently told Singersroom. “I’m not hiding in any dark places or in any shadowsâ¦I got naked in front of the microphone. That means that the ‘Light of the Sun’ is all over â I can’t hide myself.”
The set is Scott’s first release with her new label and Warner Bros.
