Cuban American singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan has been keeping fans up to date as she works on her forthcoming studio album, that has been said to be mostly dance-oriented. After teasing fans with the initials, Estefan finally announced the title of the album to be âLittle Miss Havana,’ which has been narrowed down to nine songs.
For the album, Estefan worked exclusively with super-producers Pharrell Williams and Chag Hugo of The Neptunes for several months. As for the sound, fans can expect to hear a bilingual album.
Of the collaboration with Pharrell, she described it as “mixed.” “Pharrell actually wanted more and more Spanish and that’s what we’ve done,” Estefan explained to Billboard. “We really used English where we wanted English and Spanish where we thought it fit great.” This will be the first English-language album from Estefan since 2003.
The album is slated for a late 2011 release, with the first single coming as early as this summer. Until then, fans can hear a snippet of the title track on her official site. Estefan has also started shooting the video for her first single.
