As Singersroom previously reported, last night (May 17) BET announced the nominations for the “Best Male R&B Artist” category for the forthcoming 2011 BET Awards and the list included Chris Brown, Cee-Lo Green, Bruno Mars, Trey Songz and Usher.
Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Tank raised the question why fellow singer R. Kelly’s name was not added to the nominee list. Tank made it clear he was not negating the work of the current nominees stating, “For the record! @ceelogreen @brunomars make great music…They know I support them 100%” but he disagreed with BET adding, “I just didn’t agree with the R&B category.”
After voicing his opinion on Twitter, a fan labeled Tank “R&B’s Kanye West,” which the singer chuckled about.
Tank, who released his latest album ‘Now or Never’ in December of 2010, which was the follow up to 2007’s ‘Sex, Love & Pain,’ did not make a claim about adding himself to the category, even though many fans are shocked he didn’t make the cut.
He recently remixed “Celebration” from his album ‘Now or Never’ with guest appearances from Chris Brown & Trey Songz, aiming for the number one spot on the charts..
Listen to the “Celebration” remix.
