Cash Money recording artist Jay Sean is gearing up for the release of his second US album, âFreeze Time,â which is led by the single â2012â featuring labelmate Nicki Minaj. ââFreeze Timeâ for meâ¦the reason why I called it that was because last year was so amazing for me,â Sean tells KTLA morning show. âI did so many things, met with so many wonderful people. I was like, you know what, if just for a second, I could just freeze time and take it all in.â And thatâs actually how I live my life now. Iâm like you know what, Iâm going to enjoy this moment; Iâm gonna enjoy every moment, itâs about the journey not the destination. In moving from the UK to NYC, Jay Sean says the transition was easy because of where he lived. âI came from London so for me Iâm so used to the busy lifestyle, the hecticness, the rushing around, so New York wasnât so much of a mad transition,â he says. âI mean if I went to Wisconsin that could be a little stress.â Earlier this year (May 10), Usher was asked about what he thought of the stateside success of R&B artists like Jay Sean and Taio Cruz. “Sustaining longevity is all about time. They have a lot to prove.” Usher said. Usherâs answer stirred a possible beef in the blogosphere, but Jay Sean went a different route. “He’s been in the game for, what, 17 years? I completely agree with what he says. Longevity trumps everything. America has only heard one album. I’m so new to America. I’ve got so much more to show them, so much more to give them,” Sean said. Confirmed guest appearances on the new album, âFreeze Time,â include Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj and Mary J. Blige. In 2009, his American debut single “Down” topped the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first solo artist of South Asian origin and first UK urban act to top the Hot 100. His American debut album âAll or Nothing,â debuted at #37 on the US Billboard 200 and reached #11 on the Japan Oricon Albums Chart.
