Capitol Records recording artist Bertell is poised to heat up the airwaves and charts with his forthcoming album “Goin Hard” this year. Set for release this March, “Goin Hard” is the Houston native’s first project to come under Capitol with a soulful sound reminiscent of Jodeci, R. Kelly and Usher. Tapping award-winning producer Bryan Michael Cox for the project, Bertell’s debut album is led by the singles “Beat It Up” and “She Bad,” featuring Bun B. While Bertell is technically a new face on the block, you might recognize the talented songwriter from the hit “Shorty What That Do” with Dem Franchise Boyz. “I write the majority of my music and record my own songs,” Bertell tells Rap-Up when speaking of “Goin Hard”. “B. Cox will come in and do a beat, then heâll let me go in and do my own thing.” Bertell’s “Goin Hard” is due in stores March 23, 2010.
