While ex-girlfriend Rihanna is in the Bahamas enjoying the beach, pop star Chris Brown is preparing for a preliminary hearing April 29. Earlier this month, Brown pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court to both felony assault and making criminal threat charges for beating Rihanna. After Brownâs not guilty plea, Rihannaâs father told US Weekly, “So what happened…. somebody else did this to Rihanna then?” According to Rihannaâs attorney Donald Etra, the âUmbrellaâ star âwould be pleased if it were over quickly.â Brown and Rihanna, 21, appeared together at a pre-Grammy party Feb. 7. What happened later that night is the focus of the case. Both singers canceled appearances at the awards show on Feb. 8, when Brown was booked and released on $50,000 bail. If Brown is found guilty of the charges, his sentence could range from probation to four years and eight months in state prison, district attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons has said.
