Chart-topping recording stars Chris Brown and Rihanna appear to have unwavering support from R&B/urban-pop fans according to a recent survey. In a exclusive survey conducted at Singersroom R&B/urban-pop culture fans were asked whether they would still support the former “Take You Down” and “Umbrella” stars in stores or boycott the embattled duo. Surprisingly, just over 65 percent of respondents said they would continue to support both Brown and Rihanna, contrary to reports that indicated Brown would struggle to regain trust and support with consumers. Instead, Brown, who is slated to appear in a Los Angeles area courtroom next month on assault and making criminal threats charges for allegedly assaulting Rihanna, topped Rihanna with 68% of fans supporting his future endeavors. Rihanna on the other hand received 66% of the vote indicating that the couple is in the “same boat” with consumers. The survey, conducted by MusicLife Entertainment Group, parent company of Singersroom, the premiere community for R&B and urban-pop culture, was conducted over a seven day period in March. “Even though the actions of Chris Brown and Rihanna may conflict with fans moral point of view, it meagerly changed the influence on their buying decisions,” said Adeniyi Omisore, Editor-in-Chief of Singersroom.com. As previously reported, both Chris Brown and Rihanna are slated to release new music by years end. Each album, a follow up to Platinum-plus certified albums “Exclusive” and “Good Girl Gone Bad” respectively, comes with added pressure to match and/or exceed the success of their well charted 2007 efforts. Note: The survey, based on a demographic of 13-35 year old consumers’, collected information on whether celebrities influence their purchasing decisions; 48% said yes, 37% said no and 14% were unsure. When asked whether they would boycott Chris Brown or Rihanna products/services (movies, music, clothes, etc.) 68% said they will not boycott Chris Brown and 66% Rihanna.
