R&B singer Usher’s 2008 album “Here I Stand” has been certified Platinum according to the RIAA. “Here I Stand,” featuring the hit single “Love In This Club” and more recently “Trading Places,” was released in May but had failed to achieve the level of success his previous efforts “8701” and “Confessions” had within months of release. Usher’s certification follows Kanye West’s recent Platinum certification of “808s & Heartbreak”. West’s effort, currently riding high with the single “Heartless,” slid down the Billboard 200 albums chart this week. According to Billboard, the once top 5 holding album slid 5-9, selling 33,000 copies. Like West’s effort, Beyonce’s “I Am… Sasha Fierce” also slid on sales of 47, 000 copies 3-5. Beyonce is accompanied in 5-10 frame by Keyshia Cole’s “A Different Me” (no.10); Jamie Foxx’s “Intuition” (no. 8); and Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” (no. 6). Next Week: Watch out for India Arie’s “Testimony Vol.2 – Love & Politics”; Bobby Valentino’s “The Rebirth” and Ryan Leslie’s self titled debut, which all debut on the Billboard 200 next Wednesday.
