SOUL RECKLESS 08: Usher ‘Stop Talking, I Love My Wife’

2008 featured some of the most hilarious, shocking, jaw-dropping, and even sheer reckless moments so why not take a look back. In fact we’ve got 20 memorable moments for you. With just ten days to go until history takes a turn in 2009, we’ll take you through Reckless Souls, a countdown featuring everyone from Dru Hill to R. Kelly and everything in between. After a whirlwind 2007 that included marrying his former stylist Tameka Foster, becoming a father and dismissing his mother from her nearly 10 year stint as manager, Usher let us all know where he stood with “Here I Stand,” the Diamond-selling singer’s fifth studio album. While Usher had moved on when the clock struck twelve in January, television networks, radio stations, bloggers and most fans had not moved past his marriage to Tameka Foster or the other much-talked-about events that ensued in his personal life. On May 27, 2008, Usher hit up MTV’s then hit show TRL (Total Request Live) to promote his recently released album “Here I Stand”. After talking about the project for a few minutes Usher broke into a speech about his wife, the rumors, his mother and all of the negative reports issued by the press. Getting as close as possible to the camera Usher at one point said “I’m tired of people continuing to talk so much trash about me, my wife and my mother.” Relive the moment below courtesy of, in fact this is one of Usher’s last visits to TRL which aired its last episode in 2008. Tell us how you really feel Usher.. The R&B singer ended up re-hiring his mom in 2008 while also welcoming his second child into the world in December. Unfortunately the Recording Academy did not take a liking to Usher’s new album “Here I Stand”. He is reportedly hitting the studio with Ne-Yo to work on another album for release sometime in 2009-2010.
