In a surprising twist, this year’s American Idol is overwhelmingly dominated by men. For American Idol star Lil Rounds, that won’t be a problem. “I don’t want to just boggle myself down with the ratio of it,” the singer told reporters during a conference call last week. Rounds feedback, after being asked about the fact that there are a reported 13 contestants this year, eight of them are men and five are women, is interesting considering that several contestants were picked by viewers. Rounds, who performed the Mary J. Blige hit “Be Without You,” believes that everyone has a fair shot and hopes the girls will put their best foot forward: “I just feel like I have to out there and always continue to put my best foot forward, stay positive and go out there and do what I know how to do best–and that’s singing and performing. As long as we keep that in our minds to go out there and sing and enjoy ourselves like it’s our last time, I think we’re all going to do great.” Lil Rounds and the remainder of the top 13 will perform for the first time as finalists tonight on Fox !
