Awww! Now this is dope!
London-Based R&B singer/songwriter Ray Blk is looking to make a huge splash in the U.S. with her brand new single, ‘Chill Out,’ featuring SG Lewis. Like the song’s title, the cut is laid-back, but it’s also thought-provoking. On the wavy synth production, the soul songstress gets real as she tells her beau, “I know you thought that me and you were on to something, but I had no plans of loving you.” Ouch!
‘I feel like women are told how to live and act based on societal pressures which stems from male privilege and this song challenges that,’ states Ray Blk.
Ray’s honesty and raspy delivering are intoxicating.
‘Chill Out’ is taken from her upcoming self-released project, ‘Durt.’
RAY BLK speaks of ‘Durt’: ‘A lot of growing up happened in the year it took me to make this mini album. These songs are about me becoming an adult and being frank about the experiences that have brought me here.’
