Dawn Richard is wasting no time in getting back to work … whelp, she probably never stopped working on her solo music if her former band members had a say.
Only a day after members Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex penned an open letter confirming the second disbandment of the multi-platinum selling group, the New Orleans native has announced “The Black Era” via her blog.
As previously reported, O’Day blamed Dawn for the group's breakup following what she calls an attack in a studio and months of ups and downs.
“During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate,” writes O’Day. “To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family. Disagreements happen. But a war of words and ideas should never end in physical aggression.”
In a twist to the story, TMZ reports, "Dawn Richard went nuclear when she found out Aubrey O'Day and Shannon Bex were meeting behind her back … recording tracks without her and discussing business matters involving the group," leading Dawn to explode after showing up at their private session on Monday.
Dawn hasn’t spoken out about the incident besides telling TMZ the stories are "exaggerated lies and false accusations," but she did take to Twitter to apologize to her fans about the second split.
“Extremely sorry to the fans. You don't deserve this. You're worth more,” she writes. She also added, “And even still I Was working with both teams to still release the album when this story was leaked without anyone being consulted.”
