[Song Premiere] Brenda Moorer – Re-imagine

Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Brenda Nicole Moorer will be releasing her sophomore album Brand New Heart soon (the follow-up to her last EP For Lovers & Believers).

Today (Feb. 1), she premieres the song “Re-imagine,” a mix of soul and jazz written by Moorer and keyboardist/composer Kenny Banks Jr. and produced by Brooklyn keyboardist Jesse Fischer.

“The song is about growth and change for the betterment of yourself and envisioning the life you want,” Brenda explained. “I think with the new year a lot of people are re-imaging what their lives could be.” The song features a soul jazz feel with a mid-tempo beat, catchy horn lines, and smooth vocals.

Brenda Nicole Moorer is a singer and songwriter hailing from Atlanta, currently living between Atlanta and Harlem. Moorer released her debut indie album in 2011 entitled Songbird which Pandora featured. In 2014, Moorer teamed up with keyboardist/producer Jesse Fischer to release EP, For Lovers & Believers, presenting music with a positive message, simple melodies atop laid back rhythms, heavy Rhodes, and underlying synths. Moorer’s brand of soul is both refreshing and vintage, gentle and sultry mixing elements of folk, soul, and pop.

Her album Brand New Heart is a collaborative effort  affectionately dubbed “the Atlanta-Brooklyn exchange.” The music from the album is a joint effort between Brooklyn-based producer/keyboardist Jesse Fischer and Atlanta-based keyboardist Kenny Banks. The project fuses soul, folk, and jazz elements.
