Ray J and Chris Brown out here making chicks “Famous.”
On their new collaboration, which will appear on Ray J’s long-delayed album, Raydemption, the two R&B singers go back and forth, sharing their stories about making females popular. The song is also billed as a diss record for Ray J’s ex-girlfriend and sextape partner, Kim Kardashian, who is currently married to rapper/producer Kanye West.
On the Drumma Boy-produced track, Breezy kicks off the braggadocios lyrics with, “I know that you cry when you’re goin’ to sleep every damn night / I’ll f**k around and make another one famous.”
The disrespect is prominent on the second half of the record as Ray J unleashes: “I told the judge, my hands in the sky / It wasn’t me, I’m not that kind of guy / She f**ked me for fame, look in her eyes / She was the first one to sign on the line / She was the real one to plan it all out / Look at the family, they walk around proud / All because she had my d*ck in her mouth.”
“Famous,” which jacks Kanye West’s song title of the same name, came to life after the rapper featured nude wax figures of Ray J and Chris Brown in his music video.
“You can’t fault me and Chris for responding to all the things that have been done about us [in the media] over the last few months,” Ray J stated last month.
Ray J and Brown are not only music collaborators; the two are good friends.
“Famous” by Ray J, featuring Chris Brown, is a high-energy track that seamlessly blends elements of R&B and hip-hop to create a dynamic and infectious sound. The song opens with a bold, driving beat and a catchy instrumental hook that sets an upbeat and confident tone. Ray J’s vocals are smooth and charismatic, delivering his verses with a mix of swagger and vulnerability that reflects the song’s themes of fame and personal struggles.
Chris Brown’s contribution adds an extra layer of appeal to the track, with his signature vocals providing a melodic and compelling contrast to Ray J’s performance. The chorus is particularly memorable, featuring Brown’s smooth and emotive delivery that enhances the song’s catchy and anthemic quality. The production is polished and energetic, with a blend of modern beats, vibrant synths, and layered textures that create a rich and engaging soundscape.
Lyrically, “Famous” explores the highs and lows of being in the public eye, touching on themes of success, scrutiny, and personal identity. The song captures the complexity of navigating fame while maintaining authenticity and personal integrity.
Overall, “Famous” is a standout track that showcases the vocal talents of both Ray J and Chris Brown, combining energetic production with relatable themes to create an engaging and memorable listening experience.
