Chris Brown draws inspiration from New Edition’s classic “Can You Stand the Rain,” for his collaboration with Joelle James on “Scream.”
On the silky ballad, lifted from Kevin Harts debut musical project, ‘What Now? The Mixtape Presents Chocolate Droppa,’ Breezy provides his soulful voice to the nostalgic and harmonious chorus insisting, “Girl, when I can’t seem to find a little piece of mine / Can you scream my name?”
Brown’s artist, R&B/POp singer Joelle, holds her own, letting Breezy know that her heart ain’t free. “I give you my heart; it’s not enough / Waiting every day until you’re done / But you never call,” she coos.
Hart’s ‘What Now? The Mixtape Presents Chocolate Droppa,’ released Friday (Oct. 14), serves as the motion-picture soundtrack to his new stand-up film, ‘What Now?’
