Today (Sept 2nd), Chicago native and entertainer/songwriter/producer Jack Red shares what it means to be “Homegrown.”
On the song, nostalgia reigns supreme as Red recalls true-life memories and growing up in Chi-town.
“The concept of embracing your history, has inspired my philosophy of living life from the inside out,” Red says. “‘Homegrown’ celebrates my story and is a motivational ode to people’s individual roots. If you feel lost in the whirlwind of today, listen to this record and get back home,” he captions with the song.
“Homegrown” is the lead single off his upcoming debut EP of the same name, which will be unveiled in two parts, the first half slated for digital release on October 8th.
Red recently produced Chance the Rapper’s “We The People” featured in NIKE’s Olympic-themed “Unlimited Together” commercial. His work as a producer has also been commissioned by international brands such as McDonald’s, EA Sports, and ESPN. He’s also performed at Lollapalooza, Pitchfork Fest and on Saturday Night Live.
