Sebastian Kole (who has co-written No. 1 songs for Alessia Cara and Jennifer Lopez) steps out front with his self-titled debut EP, set for release on Friday, May 13th by EP Entertainment/Motown Records. Here’s one of the tunes called “Home,” a melodic tune about the fear of battling through love, but finding a person he’s willing to soldier on for.
“I’ve learned my lesson still, I’d later cry with you than be alone,” he sings on the bridge.
Kole co-wrote and co-produced most of the songs on Alessia Cara’s Four Pink Walls EP and her debut album Know-It-All, including the double-platinum hit “Here.” He is currently writing for Maroon 5 and Demi Lovato.
“Home” and some of his other songs “Love’s on the Way” and “Love Doctor” have been featured in recent episodes of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” Kole will also be featured in the Motortown Revue showcase this spring with special guest Berry Gordy.
Born in Birmingham, AL, Kole began playing music in church, where he was given the freedom to fuse songs he heard on the radio with traditional hymns during services. His first big break came when Jennifer Lopez recorded “Goin’ In,” a track that he co-wrote. The song, which featured Flo Rida and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart, appeared on both her 2012 greatest hits collection and the Step Up Revolution soundtrack. Shortly after that, Kole moved to Los Angeles and signed with EP Entertainment and Motown.
