On April 1, the BET Network held their annual “Black Girls Rock” celebration to honor black women and girls (famous or not) who succeed against the odds.
The red carpet was filled with beautiful brown women who are movers and shakers including producer and writer Shonda Rhimes (Shot Caller Award), R&B legend Gladys Knight (Living Legend Award), The Walking Dead actress and “Eclipsed” playwright Danai Gurira (Star Power Award), award-winning actress and activist Amandla Stenberg (Young Gifted and Black Award), and Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi (Community Change Agent Award).
Monica and Jazmine Sullivan performed while Erykah Badu also made an appearance.
Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the show will air tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 8:00 P.M. ET/PT.
Check out the flicks of the honorees and attendees: everyone looked fabulous!
