You’ve probably seen the trailer for Selma, the upcoming, civil rights-era film about Martin Luther King Jr. and the historic marches in Selma, Alabama in 1965. John Legend and Common unite for the film’s soundtrack on “Glory” a rapturous tune of hope in the face of adversity.

Legend’s voice is enough to send chills down your spine as he sings “One day, when the glory comes it will be ours, it will be ours / Oh, one day, when the war is one we will be sure, we will be sure.”

Common's verses touch on both past figures such as Rosa Parks and recent turmoil such as Ferguson, MO, powerfully showing not much has changed since.

Legend tweted, “50 years since Selma. Still marching. Listen to this song @common and I wrote for @SelmaMovie.”

Selma, which stars David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey, hits theaters on Christmas day.

Poignantly timeless.
