Saxophonist/vocalist/composer/producer/model Eric Darius drops his sixth CD, Retro Forward, a great mix of R&B and contemporary jazz. This groove is track 6 from the set called “What’s Her Name,” with lyrics and vocals courtesy of gospel singer Eric Dawkins.

Darius (who’s worked with Prince, George Benson, Mary J. Blige, Wynton Marsalis and Brian McKnight) explains, “Most people may recognize Eric Dawkins as a writer and producer for artists such as Tyrese, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, and Mary Mary, but he is also an incredible solo vocalist. It was a pleasure working with such an amazing talent like him.”

The song is a bit of advice to women who are trapped in toxic relationships from a male perspective…sometimes us women need to hear that. “It don’t make sense though, cause you’re too beautiful to be that insecure, it’s a shame,” Dawkins sings while Darius makes his horn sing.

Retro Forward features two covers: Barry White’s 1974 #1 hit “Can Get Enough of Your Love," a sultry duet with singer /songwriter Terry Dexter and Pharrell’s smash hit “Happy,” as well as originals inspired by Darius’ favorite music. “With this album, I really wanted to take my listeners on a musical journey, capturing the sounds from one era to the next,” he says.
