Karina Pasian Addresses Depression in Emotional Ballad ‘Solitaire’

Songstress Karina Pasian is back with new music in the form of her new single called “Solitaire,” a tune on which the accomplished pianist pours out all emotion about a person who’s succumbed to suicide after a long bout with depression.

“It must’ve been hard to deal with the pain inside you / Never could find a way to escape, I wish I knew why you couldn’t see the beautiful things / And why the world was so unfair, you were playing solitaire,” she opens the song.

The song is dedicated to the person who signed Karina to Def Jam in 2008, VP of A&R Shakir Stewart, who took his life on November 1st that same year. In remembrance, Karina tweeted, “6 years ago today….. ?? RIP Shakir Stewart. I thank God I got to experience your amazing energy. You were truly a blessing to this world and your spirit lives on through each and every life you touched.”

The video (which debuted on 106&Park on Thursday, Nov. 6), features actor Tyler James. The online release is on its way soon. Watch a short Instagram clip of the video here.
