Where in the world is Frank Ocean? He broke onto the scene with his critically-acclaimed, Grammy-winning album, Channel Orange, in 2012, only to go ghost for a while.
Well, now there’s been a sighting of Ocean, as he provides vocals on this "Trapstyle remix" of “Reach for the Stars.” Producers The MIDI Mafia collaborated with producer Tronixx for this deeply-contrasted track. Over the epic, mystical sections of the song, Ocean sings “reach for the stars, go and reach for me” before the track builds up to a trap-hop breakdown while a chopped and screwed voice (Rockie Fresh?) exclaims “Every day we turn up!”
For some reason, the buildup in this song reminds me of Baauer’s “Harlem Shake.” Do I smell another viral “Harlem Shake” craze? Let’s hope not, but meanwhile, check out Frank Ocean’s semi-return and download above.
