I’m sure everyone was tuned into the BET Hip-Hop Awards last night! There were a few dope performances and some minor complaints about how females didn’t have as much shine. However, Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea both walked away with their individiual awards by the end of the night.
The Hip-Hop Cyphers were blasting signs of intellectual truth. The lyrical masterminds stepped foot on to the platform from David Banner to a couple-duo from Remy Ma and Papoose. Having listed men and women who stand by each other in the industry, the two shut the cypher down with their act, although David Banner already lit the scene on fire.
Let’s not forget, what seemed to have been the biggest ‘girl power’ moment with a performance by Brandy of the single released 20 years ago, "I Wanna Be Down (Remix)." With help from the legendary female emcees, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and YoYo, the crowd went crazy. The reunion was one that blew up the social media trending topics!
