Now that Mary J. Blige is in a happier emotional state, Keyshia Cole is now the queen of singing about female heartbreak at the hands of male infidelity (male bashing?) and her new single is no different: she gets "Rick James-ratchet" when she finds out her man's been creeping.
"Why does it matter now? / Who can do you better? / Feet up on your couch / Yeah, bitch, I’m Rick James," she sings on the slow-burning, synthesized beat. Juicy J’s flows match the groove as he backs Cole’s couch-stomping rampage.
"Rick James" will appear on Cole’s forthcoming sixth studio album, which she says will feel sexier than her previous body of works.
"With my recording side of things, I'm really starting to get into a sexier side of myself and am just realizing and understanding my sexuality," Cole told Bethenny during a recent appearance on the daytime show.
This is an unexpected sound! What do you think of Keyshia going Rick James on a brother in her latest song?
