Formerly a background singer for Kelis and Rita Ora, London’s newest solo talent Angela Ricci is stepping out on the scene.
The Rome, Italy-raised songstress says her influences include Ray Charles and Nina Simone, which is evident in her debut single “So Good.” The song begins with a blues piano riff that saunters along, then breaks into a more modern blues groove.
“Musically, I’ve found that some of the best songs are the least complicated,” Ricci told Soul Culture. “I write about everyday emotions and situations that may sometimes appear to be light and playful, but I aim for them to still hold a deeper message and sentiment.”
