"I Am Beautiful" is the first offering from Candice Glover since winning Fox's American Idol 2013. She premiered the uplifting record on the season finale of the show, but it's great to hear her amazing voice on record.
"I was going through coronation songs, and when I hit that one, I got teary-eyed. I was like 'Okay, I've been through this, and now that I'm past it, I want to help somebody who's going through it right now," Glover told MTV News about how the song came about.
"I Am Beautiful" will appear on Glover's forthcoming debut album, Music Speaks, currently set to arrive July 16th on 19 Recordings/Interscope Records. For the set, she's looking to snag Drake or his Toronto brethren, The Weeknd, as features.
"I would love if Drake or the Weeknd would be on my album! I've been trying to reach out and get that done, as much as I can; I don't have any authority," she says. "I can't demand Drake to be on my album, he's been in the game for so long; but, I'm definitely going to try. That would be amazing!"
