Don't look to Kandi Burruss when it comes to creating songs for "Real Housewives" stars. According to the "Stay Prayed Up" singer, she's done writing and producing in that lane.
"I don't wanna record anymore 'housewives' songs. Nothing against them, but I'm just done with the 'housewives' songs. I'm done," Kandi shared on "Watch What Happens Live" Tuesday.
As widely reported, Kandi helped Kim Zolciak with two songs, which led to a lot of issues and an ongoing lawsuit.
In related news, Kandi is looking forward to having another baby, but she really wants to wait until she and Todd Tucker are married.
"We do want to have a baby together, but we want to be married first. We're planning on starting as soon as we tie the knot," Kandi said Tuesday.
Kandi Burruss is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, businesswoman and star of the hit reality show The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Now she’s stepping out from behind the “Housewives” curtain to focus on her music career and new TV venture, Kandi Factory. In an exclusive interview with PopSugar, Kandi opened up about why she gave up writing songs for the other housewives, how motherhood has changed her life and what fans can expect from her new show.
The first thing that stands out when you meet Kandi is her warmth and enthusiasm – two traits that have made her one of the most popular characters in RHOA history. But there was more going on beneath the surface than just good vibes: She was quietly working away at launching multiple businesses while filming the show. Her latest project? A singing competition called Kandi Factory that gives aspiring stars a shot at winning their own record deal.
But before we dive into all that juicy stuff, it’s time to get real about Kandi leaving something very dear to her heart: Writing songs for fellow “Housewives” cast members like NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak. We asked Kandi about this decision (which wasn’t an easy one) and talked to her about being a mommy for the third time! So let’s find out what else this powerhouse entrepreneur had to say…
Overview Of Kandi’s Career
Kandi Burruss has had a long and successful career in the entertainment business. She first rose to fame as part of the R&B group Xscape, where she was one of four vocalists who released hit singles like “Just Kickin’ It” and “My Little Secret.” After disbanding in 1998, Kandi went on to pursue her solo singing and songwriting career. In 2000, she won a Grammy for co-writing TLC’s single “No Scrubs”. She then appeared as a main cast member on Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives Of Atlanta from 2009–2015, during which time she continued writing music and releasing new material.
Most recently, Kandi has shifted focus away from reality television to build up her own production company called Kandi Koated Entertainment (KKE). Through this venture, she produces film projects, stage plays and scripted shows such as the musical “A Mother’s Love,” written by Kandi herself. Her most ambitious project is the upcoming reality competition show Kandi Factory, featuring aspiring singers working with industry professionals to create original songs under her guidance.
Additionally, Kandi welcomed a baby daughter last year with husband Todd Tucker named Blaze Tucker; they are also parents to two sons Riley Burrus (14) and Ace Wells Tucker (4). With all that going on – plus some acting gigs here and there – it looks like we can expect even more success stories from Kandi in years to come!
Insight Into ‘Kandi Factory’ And Baby Plans
Kandi recently revealed more details about her upcoming show Kandi Factory, which is set to premiere in 2021. She explained that the show will allow viewers to gain insight into how records are made and provide an opportunity for young artists to showcase their talents. As a mentor on the show, Kandi said she’s looking forward to helping contestants reach their full potential and motivating them to push themselves creatively.
The singer-songwriter also shared exciting news about plans for another baby with husband Todd Tucker following the birth of their daughter Blaze last year. Kandi admitted that she was initially hesitant due to her busy schedule but ultimately decided that having one more child would be a great addition to their family. With all of these new projects and growing family life, it’s clear that Kandi is embracing change and taking on even more challenges!
Conclusion
I have learned a lot about Kandi’s career and her future plans. She has made the decision to step away from Housewives songs, as she had already achieved great success in that area. Instead, she is focusing on other projects like the Kandi Factory and having a baby with husband Todd Tucker.
It is clear that Kandi is still striving for success in many different areas of life. Her dedication to the music industry and business ventures shows how driven she is to achieve her goals, no matter what they may be. As fans we can only wish her luck in whatever path she takes next!
Kandi has always been an inspiration to me, both personally and professionally. She has shown me that it’s possible to accomplish your dreams if you work hard enough and never give up. I look forward to seeing where her journey will take her next!
