Who knew the Queen, Aretha Franklin, was a fan of tennis ? Showcasing her love for the sport, the Queen of Soul is one of several celebrities to appear in a just unveiled Women’s Tennis Association campaign.
In video below, the “Rock Steady” singer celebrates tennis and the campaign title “Strong is Beautiful.”
“Strong is born from the obstacles that we overcome. Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Strong is beautiful. Strong is women’s tennis,” says Franklin.
According to the WTA, the new campaign is to help raise awareness surrounding tennis and to attract a new generation of fans to women’s tennis.

“Women’s tennis is fortunate to boast so many personalities with huge fan followings from the worlds of entertainment, music, sport and business who admire our players and our sport,” said Stacey Allaster, Chairman and CEO of the WTA. “With this new campaign, we aim to tap into these celebrities’ fan bases and powerful personal brands to help stretch the boundaries of the sport even further and attract a new generation of fans to women’s tennis.”
This campaign will extend through 2013 with both video and print.

Music legend Aretha Franklin has been the Queen of Soul for decades, but now she’s showing some love to a different arena: tennis. In her latest campaign video with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Franklin uses her timeless hit “Respect” to help promote women in sports. It’s an inspiring collaboration that celebrates female athletes and their contributions to society.

Franklin is no stranger to using music as a tool for social change, so it comes as no surprise that she jumped at this chance to show solidarity with female players on the court. The WTA was founded in 1973 and since then has helped propel big names like Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka into stardom. Its mission is to create opportunities for all women, regardless of background or ability level.

The new campaign video featuring Aretha Franklin shows us just how far we’ve come in celebrating powerful female figures in sport – and why there’s still work left to do. Let’s take a closer look at what this partnership means both on and off the court!

Overview Of The Campaign

This campaign video from the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) stars Aretha Franklin, one of America’s most iconic singers. The objective of the video is to promote ‘love’ for tennis and show how much enthusiasm fans have for the game. It does this by highlighting some of the greatest moments in women’s tennis history through a montage that shows players like Serena Williams competing at their best.

The song chosen as background music—Aretha Franklin’s classic hit ‘Respect’—complements the energy and passion displayed throughout the video. This adds an extra layer to its message: not only do we love tennis, but it also deserves our respect. The combination of visuals and sound creates an uplifting atmosphere that conveys both admiration and appreciation for women’s tennis.

The WTA has been able to tap into popular culture by using someone as beloved as Aretha Franklin in their campaign video. Her presence alone serves to remind us why we should continue celebrating female athletes who challenge gender stereotypes every day on court.

Wta And Aretha Franklin’s Involvement

The WTA has made a concerted effort to recognize and celebrate female athletes, with the ‘love’ campaign video being just one example. By bringing in Aretha Franklin as part of this initiative, they have effectively demonstrated that tennis is an inclusive sport loved by people from all walks of life.

Aretha herself has also been deeply involved in the project. She was keen to get involved and share her love for tennis because it’s something she grew up watching with her family. This personal connection makes her involvement feel genuine, adding further credibility to the message behind the campaign: that regardless of age or background, we can all appreciate women’s tennis.

Having Aretha take on a role in this campaign not only speaks volumes about the talent and success of female athletes; it is also a reminder that together we can break down barriers and fight for gender equality within sports. It serves as an optimistic reminder that all forms of respect – including those shown towards professional female athletes – should be celebrated both on and off court.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the WTA and Aretha Franklin have come together to create an inspiring campaign video that celebrates love in tennis. It was moving to see a legendary artist like Aretha express her support for a sport she has long admired. Her passion for the game is evident in her performance of “Love” – her signature song.

The overall message behind this campaign is one of unity, respect and appreciation. We can all take something away from it: no matter what our background or experience with sports may be, we can show each other kindness and understanding on the court. I believe this initiative will bring people closer together through the power of music and the spirit of competition.

Aretha Franklin’s involvement with this project shows that there are many different ways to demonstrate your love for tennis – even if you don’t play yourself! Through collaboration between two powerful forces such as these, we can continue to spread messages of positivity throughout our communities.
