Aretha Franklin holds a Grammy Legend Award and a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, and now she adds the induction to the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Franklin was inducted on Tuesday (August 14) during a ceremony at the Trinity Music City venue in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She did not not attend the induction, but sent a video message to be played in her absence.
Though she is labeled the Queen of Soul with hits like “R.E.S.P.E.C.T” and “Natural Woman,” Franklin’s repertoire of gospel hits include “Precious Moments,” “Amazing Grace,” and “God Will Take Care of You.”
The iconic singer started her career performing at Detroit’s New Bethel Baptist Church in her father Rev. C.L. Franklin’s choir.
