Former Brownstone member Nichole “Nicci” Gilbert launched Curvato, a full figure fashion collection, at the Full Figured Fashion Week in New York City. The “If You Love Me” singer was inspired by her eighteen year struggle in the entertainment industry in which stylist had to special order or custom design her clothes.
After reviewing her experience, the impulse to start a line that uplift women’s spirit and accent their shape became her goal. “During the height of my music career I often felt ashamed and embarrassed because most of my clothing had to be custom made to accommodate my fuller figure, while many of my peers could choose fashionable items from stylist off the rack,” Said Gilbert.
Gilbert showcased twelve looks on the runaway while receiving strong support from fellow R&B artist Syleena Johnson, Keke Wyatt, Faith Evans and Monifah.
All of the ladies supporting Gilbert will appear in her new reality television show ‘The Ladies of R&B,’ schedule to premiere this fall on TV One.
