Teyana Taylor signed to Pharrell’s Star Trak imprint in 2007 before making her first national appearance on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. After five years of several buzz tracks and no commercial release of a debut album, Taylor has been released from her contract with Star Trak and Interscope records.
“It was time for me to go from a caterpillar to a butterfly. I had to fly away from the nest and venture out on my own,” says Taylor. She added, “Now that I’m independent right now I get to make music and finally create an EP and give supporters and fans free music.”
With her new found freedom, Taylor is prepping the release of a free EP for fans on February 29,2012. The first single from the project entitled “Make You Move” features Maybach Music’s Wale.
Outside of music, the budding actress is building her directorial resume by shooting music videos. Recently she directed the music video to Bay Area rapper Erk tha Jerk.
