Jason Derulo ‘Blessed to Still Be Here’

Pop singer Jason Derulo welcomed in the new year with a fractured neck after tumbling from acrobatic dance moves during his tour rehearsals. While some may see this as bad luck, the “Don’t Wanna Go Home” singer chooses to look on the brighter side of things and is counting his blessings.

“My injury is called a ‘Hang Man’s Break’ because it is the same bone that is broken when someone is hung!” he wrote in a Facebook post.

The 22-year-old says that he is “blessed to still be here” given that he could have been paralyzed from the fracture to his vertebrae.

“I am so blessed to still be here! 95% of ppl with the same injury end up paralyzed or gone. Everything happens for a reason,” he said. “Traumatic experiences can change you for the better. My outlook on life is so much clearer! Don’t forget what’s important. Life is short so do it today, tomorrow could be a day too late!”

Due to the injury, Derulo has canceled his upcoming tour as he makes a full recovery over the next couple of months with a neck brace on. Fans who purchased advance tickets for the upcoming shows will be refunded at point of purchase.
