The Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, was recently honored by McDonald’s 2011 365Black Awards for Outstanding Community Service.
“Through her (Blige’s) organization FFAWN, the Foundation for Advancement of Women Now, Mary J. Blige continues to invest in the future of young women and gives them the confidence they need to succeed,” said Neil Golden, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s USA.
Along with Blige, several individuals were recipients for their influence and inspirational acts of community service including Oscar nominated actress Ruby Dee, Radio One founder Cathy Hughes, NAACP president/CEO Benjamin Jealous and civil rights activist Henry “Hank” Thomas.
