SR EXCLUSIVE: Sunshine Anderson Talks New Album, Inspiration and Possible Tour

R&B singer Sunshine Anderson released her third studio album, ‘The Sun Shines Again,’ last month (Nov 2nd), lead by the single “Lie To Kick It.” The album, which she says is for her ladies, reunited her with hit producer, Mike City, the man who signed Anderson to her first recording contract in 2000. “A lot of people don’t get second or third chances,” Anderson tells Singersroom. Adding, “The album is a relationship album; it speaks to my ladies, I’m a ride or die chique for them all day.” Anderson, who is known for male bashing anthems, like the hit “Heard It All Before,” says she’s not dogging the fellas out on the set. “I focused on brighter subjects than my previous albums,” she states. The change may be credited to her daughter, who she says is the inspiration behind ‘The Sun Shines Again.’ “The motivation around this album is my daughter. I have a 3-year-old name Sky and I have to be the best representation for her,” she says. “I felt like it was time to do this a gain and she inspires me to continue to keep going.” But don’t get it twisted, Anderson still wants men to come at her correctly. An for their sake…we hope so! “What I expect from a man when he approaches me is intelligence, honesty and just to be real,” she says, adding, “I’m spontaneous, I’m fun, so step correctly.” Anderson plans to hit the road to support ‘The Sun Shines Again’ in the near future. As far as with whom, she says, “I heard Avant’s name, I heard Kem, El DeBarge, so I’m flattered to be in great company.”
