Grammy Award-winning singer Faith Evans has returned to music with her sixth studio album, âSomething About Faith.â After taking a five-year hiatus from music, the R&B singer is grateful to still be able to make music that her fans want to listen to. âThis marks my 15-year anniversary as an artist and Iâm honored to know that thereâs still appreciation and love for what it is that I contribute to music. My faithful fans patiently waited five years for more material, and the reception has been nothing short of wonderful,â said Evans. ‘Something About Faith’ is the songstress’ first album released independently and was led by the first single “Gone Already” which is in Top 40 on Billboardâs Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and has seen an increase in airplay and sales for the 9th consecutive week. The 20-track album is feature heavy with appearances by Snoop Dogg, Estelle, Raekwon, Keyshia Cole, Kelly Price, Redman, Jessica Reedy, and Lil Mo. Evansâ versatility is shown as songs take listeners from the sanctuary to the streets. There is production from Chucky Thompson, Salaam Remi, Carvin & Ivan and others. The album debuted last week at #1 on Billboardâs Independent Album Chart. âI acquired my own imprint Prolific Music Group through eOne Music. So for my first album as an independent artist to debut like this, it is truly a blessing.â Evans is continuing to stay busy and will be appearing on upcoming projects from Keyshia Cole, Eric Benet, Shareefa, and El DeBarge, whose video âLay With Youâ sheâll be starring in. She will also be appearing on âThe MoâNique Showâ next week. Right now the singer is on a radio promo tour through December, and will then begin her theater tour. In January 2011, she will begin shooting the biopic about The Supremesâ Florence Ballard, playing the lead role. Also, Evans is continuing to shoot her reality show pilot with celebrity stylist Misa Hylton Brim, called âThe First Ladies.â Evans will also perform at the upcoming second annual Soul Train Awards, held November 10, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, GA, and will premiere on both CENTRIC and BET networks on November 28.
